    What’s Going to Happen on ‘Mad Men’?

    As if the frustrating “let’s-give-away-nothing, except-a-few-stills” promos that have flooded both the airwaves and interwebs for the past few weeks haven’t give you any indication, Mad Men returns to AMC on Sunday at 10/9 Central.

    Without giving away too much to those who inexplicably are playing catch up, (what gives?) last season was left on a series of cliffhangers that tore away the fabric that the preceding three seasons wove. In short: things were set up to change big time, right at a crucial point in history, as the series rockets towards the tumultuous mid-1960’s.  

    What new tantalizing bits will we learn about Don Draper this season? What’s Betty going to do now? Is there something about to unfold in the Pete and Peggy saga?

    If you consider yourself hip to Mad Men, then you definitely took part in  Flavorpill’s Official Mad Men Drinking Game for the season four premiere, right? While not every prediction was correct, (We’re not giving up yet! It’s still early in the season!) there was still plenty to tally…and drink.  By the numbers: — Take a sip when… …For every winking reference to no longer acceptable social standards: 5 …Each time Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce (the new ad agency) loses a client: 2 …Whenever Don and Betty Draper’s divorce gets mentioned: 3 …At the appearance of Betty’s gray-haired new beau: 5 …Whenever Sally Draper says something precocious: 3 …For every drink that gets made onscreen (careful, this one may be dangerous): 6 …For every cigarette smoked in an office (those were the days)  2 Our thoughts:  Our (anti?) heroes continue their decent toward rampant alcoholism, don’t seem to smoke as much as usual, and Betty’s new man Henry is like the plague.  — Chug when… …For every timely political reference: 1 Our thoughts: Besides that passing reference at dinner with Bethany, 1964 was a big year. Plenty happened. Step your game up, Mad Men! — Take a shot when… Don sleeps with an escort:  1  Our thoughts: For someone who’s made bedding women a sport, this is devastating. The magic is gone. Kind of like watching Michael Jordan play for the Wizards.  — Empty your glass when… …. “I can use my expense account if I say they’re whores!” - Pete Campbell: 1 … Don demanding to be hit in the face repeatedly by the escort: 1  Our thoughts: WTF?! — Empty the bottle when… Don gets shot down: 1 Our thoughts: Michael.     Mad Men 4.2, a story in photos

    So, what did we learn on this week’s oddly Betty-deficient episode of Mad Men? A few things: Don is down a road that we’re not sure he’ll come back from, creeptacular Glen has reappeared and made a few ‘statements’, and Peggy’s keeping a big secret from her new beau. Plenty more, but let’s let the images speak for themselves.

    Mad Men 4.6, A Story in Photos

    This week’s Mad Men, titled ”Waldorf Stories”, or as I like to call it - “A Whole Lotta Naked Goin’ On” provided several tantalizing bits for our anti-heroes. Peggy’s mad as hell and (almost) won’t take it anymore, Pete throws a tantrum because Kenny Cosgrove’s on his way back in the picture, Roger flashes back to hiring a young-go getter named Draper..or not remembering actually when he did. As for Don? Well, let’s just say “The Star Spangled Banner” has a bit more significance now than before:

    This Is Lovely, You Should Listen To It of the Day: Brian Williams’s honey-timbred daughter Allison performs Nat King Cole’s “Nature Boy” to the tune of RJD2’s “A Beautiful Mine” (AKA the Mad Men theme music).
